From now on, TikTok is an official music Distribution Platform.

The ByteDance (i.e. owner of the viral video app) has just started its own promotion and platform of the music distribution, named SoundOn.

As of now, SoundOn is Live in the United Kingdom (UK), United States of America (USA), Brazil and Indonesia, and artists can upload their music directly to TikTok and RESSO by means of it.

It is also capable of distributing their music to other platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and Instagram.

In September 2021 it was revealed that SoundOn had entered beta mode — Beta is a phase where it is incomplete, with errors and mistakes being made..

At the time, the Global Head of Music of the platform, Ole Obermann said that the platform In short, is facilitating it for independent artists to get their music on TikTok, and it is also going to work with them so that they can reach their audiences on TikTok.

Obermann added that they are going to organize the unsigned artists’ ecosystem through SoundOn in such a manner that does not exist this day and has never existed before.

So far they are concerned it is going to facilitate it for artists to get their audience. And also for brands and publishers to have those artists. The entire A&R (

artists and repertoire: the people employed by a record company to find new singers and bands and convince them to agree to a contract for making records with the company) process of the industry, it will become more efficient off the back of it.

As stated by TikTok, SoundOn spends 100% royalties to music creators in the first year and 90% after that and offers a variety of promotional tools and support.

As reported by SoundOn’s FAQs, artists can obtain 100% royalty for an infinite time for the platforms of In-Bytedance including TikTok and Resso.

As TikTok has said, SoundOn platform is actually an all-in-one platform for marketing and distribution of music that has been designed to accredit new and unknown artists.

Those artists who sign up to the platform can access audience insight and development, and also experienced advice from a committed SoundOn artist team.

They will access the song tab of TikTok where music is linked on profile pages, and also promotional support via creator marketing on the TikTok platform.

As TikTok claimed those artists and music creators who started on TikTokSoundOn already find additional opportunities, and as well noted that artists have already dealt with co-writers and established names to start recording.

TikTok cited Abby Roberts and Chloe Adams in the United Kingdom, and Games We Play and Muni Long in the United States of America as those who have found success after signing up to SoundOn. (Chloe Adams is reported to be one of 2022’s most hotly-sought-after artists amongst major record companies in the USA.)

After that TikTok had dealt with an independent artist distribution platform called UnitedMasters in August 2020, the SoundOn project launched, which yielded full integration between both services directly through the TikTok application. That deal let the users of TikTok distribute their music directly to other music streaming platforms within TikTok.
